Krieger Wald

...Cult of personality militarism...

1. Before starting with the strictly musical stuff, I want to thank you for being part of this first release called Visión-Furor-Ideal. Zine.

E.M.: Greetings to all readers and connoisseurs of heavy underground music, particularly genres like Raw black metal and NS black metal. Thank you for inviting me to an interview.

2. How do you see the Raw Black Metal movement until the current year?

E.M.: I believe that raw black metal is a stable genre that will not undergo changes over time and will constantly take its place of honor in the underground environment of connoisseurs of this musical direction. Many fans of modern commercial black metal dislike an offshoot like Raw due to the supposedly unprofessional playing, primitivism, and poor recording quality. But I adhere to a different point of view, for me Raw is, first of all, the freedom of self-expression, where no one has the right to dictate how you should and how you should not make music. I would not call it primitive and monotonous, each band or project has a different sound, a different atmosphere that is interesting to dive into. The last redoubt of true creativity. Without concessions and without being subject to new trends.

3. When and how was the Krieger Wald formed? Why the name?

E.M.: The Krieger Wald project appeared recently, around 2017. Created as a separate side project from my main work "Monolith". This need arose as a result of the accumulated musical material somewhat inconsistent in concept with my main project "Monolith". As for the name, I can say that it appeared spontaneously, intuitively. You have probably noticed that there are no voices, in my opinion it should not be there, because this musical work is like part of history, events that took place during the Third Reich, World War II, National Socialism, during the time of the Führer. Cult of personality, militarism... Through music he tried to convey the spirit of that time, spiritualized, aggressive and sometimes sad with notes of nostalgia.

4. What are your inspirations, both ideologically and musically?

E.M.: A lot where I get inspiration from, the harsh nature of my homeland, historical books and movies, well, just an ordinary life filled with my own problems. Musically, several BM bands and not only.

5. What can you tell us about registrations to date or future registrations?

E.M.: Now I am working on new compositions for the Monolith project that will be included in the split with the 1389 project. A full-length album is planned for 2022 for Monolith and Krieger Wald. And this year my album Monolith - Fernostlicher Sumpf was released on cassettes and CDs in the amount of 88 copies each. Also available is the Mighty Regiment / Krieger Wald division on CD in 88 copies.

6. Tell us a bit about the song “Arischer Zorn”. (We can appreciate a composition with an elite sound).

E.M.: I can say that this is a great track, aggressive, spiteful, uplifting, patriotic, uncompromising. Aryan anger!

7. You are going to participate in the compilation “The Horde Unleashes Anger. Vol. 2. From the Argentine label (Visión-Furor-Ideal. Rec) What expectations do you have of the edition?

E.M.: Thank you for being invited to participate in this collection. I expect only positive feedback from this compilation, as I have personally listened to the bands and projects featured in it, wonderful and evil music, powerful, invigorating, merciless!

8. How is the process of composition, recording?

E.M.: First, I come up with guitar parts, based on the images that appear in my imagination, I write the corresponding text. Well, then purely technical work, drums, double tracks for guitars, mixing. I don't re-record 100 times, I try to record normally in one piece from the first take, so that the listener feels a live performance. I also recorded the first demos on a cassette recorder without using digital technologies. Well, I still try to use them as little as possible.

9. Which labels were interested in representing Krieger Wald?

E.M.: The Krieger Wald and Monolith albums were featured and released on St. Petersburg-based Russian label Barbatos Productions. No other label was interested. It seems that some other label from Indonesia sent me a letter for the release of Monolith's next album in limited edition on cassettes.

10. Since there are many projects/bands coming out recently. Is there one that catches your attention and you can recommend?

E.M.: In recent years, there is very little time to keep track of all new products. But I can tell what's on my playlist right now.

Faagrim / Todfeind / Adoria / Aesir / Wanklank / Zwartplaag / Morgengrau / Winterblut / Totenwache / Kulturkrieg / OST Knife Philosophy /. Etc.

11. We know that you don't just lend your time with Krieger Wald!!

What other projects do you cooperate with?

E.M.: My main project is Monolith, stopped in the winter of 2008. I participated in several Russian Black Metal vol. one.

NS Black Metal Alliance vol. one

Well, in your new collection.

collaboratedwith the projects Varjag, Mighty Regiment, 1389.
